The size of your flake can have a significant impact on the aesthetic of your flooring installation. Torginol Flake comes in six distinct size profiles: 1″ Original, 1/2″, 1/4″, 1/8″, 1/16″, and 1/32″. The most popular size is 14″, but don’t let that deter you from trying the other sizes. Each size gives a distinct appearance to complement your area and decor choices.
Smaller sizes, such as 1/32″, 1/16″, and 1/8″, produce a more natural, aggregate-like appearance, and bigger sizes, such as 1/4″, 1/2″, or 1″, produce more dramatic, graphic patterns.
Smaller sizes are sometimes preferable if you want to produce a more subtle finish. Smaller particle sizes and shapes produce more uniform particle sizes and shapes—the individual colors of the blend are less noticeable and produce a more equal tone overall. Blends of neutral colors such as gray or brown produce a more rock-like appearance. Watch how size impacts the FB-716 Creekbed blend below:
One thing to bear in mind while using smaller sized Granules is that more product will be required for complete and uniform covering. Smaller sized Flakes, on the other hand, are a perfect option for individuals looking for a more natural and delicate appearance.

Bigger FLAKE sizes are ideal for situations when you want to make a statement with the floor—blends with splashes of color look best in larger proportions. Larger flakes have more variability in size and shape since they naturally break down into smaller pieces.
Statement mixes with vibrant colors, such as those featured in our Garage and Insignia collections, look excellent in larger sizes because you can see all of the colors in a blend individually! Check out our bigger FLAKE sizes of FB-255 Growl from our Insignia collection below:
Try one of our hybrid-sized mixtures from our Terrazzo or Hybrid Stone collections for the best of both worlds! These blends are made up of 2-3 flake sizes such as 14″, 1/8″, and/or 1/16″. The use of different sizes results in a real aggregate appearance akin to polished concrete or terrazzo.
FLAKE size is just as essential as color and can completely change the appearance of a floor. Don’t settle for the conventional 1/4″!
If you’re not sure what size will work best for your project, get a sample! We always recommend that you order a sample of any new blend before placing a purchase. It is the most effective technique to ensure your satisfaction with your choice.
